Nancy Basinger

My name is Nancy Basinger, and I am a member of the Realty Executives' Executive Launch program (class of 10/04). I am one of the older Executive Launch students, but my background in service industries has given me an advantage in real estate. In fact, Executive Launch was started for people like me who are new to real estate and have a successful work history.

That first month with Executive Launch was more intense than I expected. There was a lot to learn (way beyond what was taught in licensing class), and the homework assignments were often time-consuming. However, there was real value in every lesson and in every assigned task. The learning environment was stimulating, with expert presentations, and the interaction with my classmates made it fun. I've stayed in touch with several of my Launch-mates, and we are even advertising together.

One of the best features of Executive Launch is the coaching that's available, even after the formal training is over. No matter how much you think you've learned, there are always new questions - particularly when you take your first listing or write your first sales contract. My first transaction was a purchase contract, written on a Saturday night, in competition with another buyer. I remember worrying about two things: how to write the "winning" contract; and how to look as if I knew what I was doing (at least to my client). There were some challenging features to the contract I was writing, but luckily I had Executive Launch coaches at my disposal, even on a Saturday evening. At the end of negotiations, our contract was accepted, my client was ecstatic, and the transaction closed without a hitch.

I particularly appreciate the corporate culture at Realty Executives. I chose this company because of its emphasis on ethics and agent support. There is a sense of team throughout the organization, even though each Executive is independent. The Executive Launch program is a perfect example of the company's focus on helping their Executives. The opportunities for education and sharing of experiences is never-ending. If you take advantage of every opportunity to learn, the payback can be tremendous. As a new real estate agent, your best chance for success is a combination of enthusiasm, commitment, persistence, and Executive Launch.
